Dr. Judd Curtis is an Assistant Research Scientist with the Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation. His research interests center around marine and estuarine ecology, fisheries, and population biology.

A native of New Mexico, Judd relocated to Massachusetts to earn his bachelor’s degree from Clark University (2006), where he double-majored in biology and environmental science & policy. He received his doctorate in marine biology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (2014) for his studies on discard mortality, recruitment, and population connectivity of Red Snapper in the Gulf of Mexico. His other research interests include assessing marine fishery populations using tools including acoustic telemetry, scuba diving, otolith chemistry, genetics, and other tagging and tracking techniques.

Judd is a member of the American Fisheries Society, Coastal Conservation Association, American Society of Ichthyology and Herpetology, and the Audubon Society.
